CreditShield
The consumer's side of credit. No fees, no hype, no scams.

Leny Pearson

Founder of CreditShield. I write about the credit repair industry and how to do its job yourself.

Why this site exists

Credit repair is an industry built on a gap: the law gives you the right to dispute anything inaccurate on your credit report, for free, directly with the bureaus — and most people don't know it. Companies charge hundreds of dollars a month to send letters you could send yourself, and the worst of them charge for work they never do.

I started CreditShield to close that gap. Every article here documents a specific scheme — what it promises, how the money actually moves, and what the law says about it — and cites the primary sources so you can check my work rather than take my word for it. The guides show you the process the companies are charging for. Thefree app gives you the tools to run it.

How I write these

Every claim about your rights is sourced to the statute or the regulator — the Fair Credit Reporting Act itself, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or the Federal Trade Commission — and linked so you can read it directly. Where a scheme is the subject of enforcement action, I link the filing.

What I am not: I'm not a lawyer, and nothing here is legal advice. CreditShield is not a credit repair organization, and I don't dispute anything on anyone's behalf. I write about how the system works so you can work it yourself. If your situation involves a lawsuit, bankruptcy, or an active collections case, talk to an attorney.
